Overview

Embark on a captivating journey through Oman with this 5-day itinerary, filled with enchanting natural wonders and rich cultural heritage. Starting from Muscat, you'll venture into the mountainous and desert landscapes, discovering hidden gems at every turn.

Itinerary

Day 1

Starting from Muscat in the morning you will travel through the mountainous and desert landscape arriving at the dramatic Bimahma Sinkhole. There will be time to visit the Sinkhole. Next, you will continue travelling through the villages of Dibab and Finns and arrive at Wadi Shab – wadi meaning ‘gorge between cliffs’. Your guide will take you for a visually breathtaking, easy walk through the wadi. Your walk will take you past the green grass, banana and mango trees. The narrow winding, old rock paths will bring you to a series of streams and pools. You will have the opportunity to swim through a pond of crystal clear water and swim through a narrow keyhole, surfacing inside a magnificent cave, which contains an inspiring waterfall.
Day 2

After breakfast we will drive along the coast arriving at the mausoleum of Bibi Miriam at Qalhat, where you can view Bibi Miriam’s tomb and the ruins of the ancient town of Qalhat. Driving past the huge plant of Oman LNG, you will arrive in Sur. Sur is where the traditional wooden Omani dhows are made. It also features many fine old homes with carved doors and arabesques windows. It offers great photo opportunities. Lunch at the local restaurant.
We continue our Drive to Ras Al Jinz, a sanctuary for the green turtles. Dinner and overnight in a resort. We have a short drive to the beach to watch the turtles nesting on the sands.
Day 3

After breakfast, we proceed to visit Wadi Bani Khalid through the Eastern Hajar mountains. At Wadi Bani Khalid, we will take an easy walk to the brilliant blue rock pools and there will be time for a refreshing swim in the Wadi before continuing on to Wahiba Sands.
The Wahiba’s are desert in a romantic sense of the word rolling sand dunes, varying from deep red to a rich honey color, stretching as far as the eye can see. This is the traditional home of the nomadic Bedouin.
At Wahiba you will experience 4WD Driving on the sand dunes as well as a visit to a Bedouin community. Experiencing the sunset at the top of the dunes. We will spend the night in the desert.
Day 4

After breakfast we continue our tour to the township of Nizwa, the ancient capital of Oman. We travel through Nizwa, we will continue to visit Jabrin. The finest of Oman’s Castles built in the late 17th century. Jabrin castle was once a center of learning for the study of Islamic Law, History, Arabic, Medicine and Astrology. This castle has extremely well planned layouts with room for the Imam, the ladies room, the kitchen, the majlis etc. Most of the ceilings are decorated with beautiful paintings with Islamic motifs. The view from the top of the castle is really mesmerizing. Then we will visit the village of Bahla, which have been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO. At Bahla one can visit a few pottery centers. Where pottery is made in the traditional style. Lunch at the local restaurant. Then travel through Al Hamra, situated at the foothill of the Jabel Akhdar mountains. The village has interesting old multi–storied mud houses surrounded by lush green plantation. After this visit we proceed to the village of Misfaf. Where you can see the various types of fruits and vegetables cultivated in the terrace farms on the mountain slopes. After this we return to Nizwa and stay overnight in a hotel.
Day 5

After Breakfast .Visit the imposing round - tower fort built more than 350 years ago. Nizwa, which is also known as the silver-capital of Oman, boasts a souq that offers the finest of Omani silver jewellery and handicrafts. The impressive souq complex also houses other sections such as a fruit & vegetable market, a meat market, a spice market and perhaps most interestingly, a market exclusively selling dates. Before returning to Muscat, we do a last stop in Birkat Al Mauz, a model oasis village not far from Nizwa. Here, you can even enjoy a short walk through the dense date and banana plantations and photograph the famous old ruins of mud houses, which look especially pretty in the afternoon light. Following this, return to Muscat & drop-off at your hotel.
