Itinerary

Day 1

We will start our journey at 8:00am by taking a 4WD vehicle to Ras Al Junaiz through a picturesque and rugged coastal route. This tour will offer breathtaking views of the blue waters of the Gulf of Oman and pristine white beaches. We will pass by the fishing village of Quriyat and make our first stop at the Bimah sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with blue-green water at the bottom. On clear sunny days, we may even see sharks in the deep blue waters or fleet-footed Gazelles running across the landscape. Next, we will drive to Wadi Tiwi, where the road winds between houses and is surrounded by lush green plantations with water flowing all year around. We will also visit the mausoleum of Bibi Miriam at Qalhat and continue through mountain terrain to Ras Al Junaiyz, a sanctuary for green turtles. We will spend the night at the Hotel and have a short drive to the beach to watch the turtles nesting on the sands.

Day 2

On Day Two, those interested in watching the hatchlings can do so in the early morning hours. After breakfast at the hotel, we will proceed to visit Wadi Bani Khalid, which comprises of small pretty villages embedded in the mountains. It is recommended to wear light and comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Next, we will drive to the Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand and dunes rising up to 200 meters. This area is also home to a variety of flora and fauna and is a photographer's delight. We will experience a roller coaster-like feeling over the dunes and stop by a Bedouin family in their traditional and simple habitat. We will return to Muscat late in the afternoon.
